BDIC MedTech, formerly known as Galvani TECH, is a spinout company from Ulster University in Northern Ireland, UK. It specializes in wireless power transmission systems for artificial heart pumps and ventricular assist devices (VADs). The company was incorporated in 2022 and received seed funding from IUK and IUL.

Our technology
BDIC MedTech is developing transcutaneous wireless power transmission and charging systems for medical-grade implanted lithium-ion batteries. This technology aims to power left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) without requiring drive line cables.
Our Team
Mr Stuart McConchie (CEO) has experience in the LVAD industry, and Dr David McEneaney (SMO) is a consultant cardiologist at Craigavon Area Hospital, UK. Prof Jim McLaughlin is the technical advisor. Prof Omar Escalona (CSO) has expertise in wireless power transmission systems. Dr Mohammad Karim (CTO & Project Manager).
